La Paije tourney is enriched with a new extract from a world-famous work that we have just translated into Gallo.
Today, we chose " Aquis Submersus" by Theodor STORM.
This excerpt describes the pain of a painter faced with the mortal remains of his young illegitimate son, whose portrait it is his duty to paint.
To complete the text on ancient Basque beliefs, we offer you the continuation written by Allande SOCARROS on The Characters of Basque mythology.
Come and meet the Jentillak, the people of the rocks, builders of dolmens and menhirs, Basajauna and Basanderea the lords of the forest and many other characters!
And always in the same spirit of support for minority languages, we use our little "Rosetta Stone".
The adventures of Vick and Vicky continue.

We are very happy to see how good the uptake of our Dictionary was : thank you to all its users! We decided to make sure it keeps with the times and remains relevant with these two changes:
• A more comfortable view on smartphone screen by recalibrating the function buttons (see le carrouge);
• The addition of text fields alongside the requests for new translations. This will allow us to avoid possible ambiguities and also to anticipate other requests in a similar topic.
Obviously we keep adding to the Dictionary all the time. As of today, the main corpus Gallo → French contains more than 10,000 entries.
Words are the blood of a language, they should flow and move around so that the language lives and even thrives : these tools are yours to do so.
Today we return to the History of Brittany with the Duke Conan 1er dit Le Toêrt.
Come and sail in the Breton history thanks to our interactive list of kings, dukes and duchesses of Brittany.
Since our little bilingual Norman-Gallo publication with the Trottebec sisters was well received, we thought we'd keep going... with other languages!
Today, we are taking you on a little tour of the Basque country culture with Allande SOCARROS, more precisely, in a little tour of the old Basque beliefs.
We know that we are read by language amateurs as well as professional linguists, so we thought you would enjoy our optional multilingual "Rosetta stone" display.

Today, we chose "La Poùr" by Guy de MAUPASSANT.
This short story shows in a striking way how fear can lead to a dramatic act.

The update of our Dictionary is a never-ending story: every week, we add new words, pictures, sound files in the four languages pairs
Today, we have added vocabulary related to the political and administrative institutions and the usual businesses of a city.
In order to facilitate the task of translators of political programs or advertisers, we have also grouped this vocabulary into 6 thematic files..
Now, words are the blood of a language, they have to flow to keep Gallo alive, so come and use our Dictionary and make these words yours!

We launched the Academy on Sept 16th, 2016 and since then, we couldn't stop ourselves from:
- creating tools and resources for the survival of Gallo: our online school, a grammar, a trilingual dictionary, linguistic flashcards...
- demanding that Gallo gets its rightful place in the big league of... languages. This is still a heated debate in France. But for us, this comes back to demanding, very simply, the respect due to one another. Not more, not less.
- promoting Gallo as an effective communication language, both modern and literary. We've done this through the production of original texts as well as translation from classic excerpts, authors from different cultures, graphic novels, and even for some local and national election campaigns!
- sticking together with other minorised languages thanks to many friendly partnerships with Breton publishers as well as Breton, Scottish, Corsican and Normand organisations... But we also participated to live and online events around the UNESCO's International Year of Indigenous Languages, such as the events in Paris and in Friesland.
And, well.. who would have thought ? You followed and supported us from everywhere on the planet !
Thanks to you, thanks to your thousands monthly visits to our site and to your responsiveness on social media, Gallo made a reappearance in the discussions on regional language policy. Just demanding to take into account both languages of Brittany is a huge step forward for a language that had been silenced for years by calling it patois.
You are contributing to put Gallo back on the map of the world's languages: more than your support for the Academy of Gallo, we are infinitely grateful for your support for Gallo itself. You give us wings to start our fifth year with the same enthusiasm as we did the first!
Y a core du buan ao lein maez le Galo se rechome !
Do you remember fondly these graphic novels you read countless times as a kid? We do, too.
Today, great news: you can discover one you've never read before! Vick and Vicky's adventures follow the tradition of Tintin and Snowy and of the Famous Five... What's not to like?!
Thanks to an agreement with Bruno BERTIN and the publisher Editions Ptit Louis, we have had the pleasure and the privilege to translate, from French into Gallo, the 1st volume of les Sorcières de Brocéliande (the Witches of Broceliande), one of Vick and Vicky's many adventures.
With Le Grimoire (the Spellbook), we invite you to dive into the first 2 episodes of Vick and his little dog Vicky in a bewitching adventure that
takes place in the heart of the Gallo country, in the mythical forest of Brocéliande!
In addition to its permanent work in linguistics and Gallo training, the Academy of Gallo supports Gallo literature in practice.
Today we are pleased to announce that our trilingual dictionary has taken into account the new publication "La semaene ao Frere Arturo" by the publisher OLEPEI.
Beyond this action, we took pleasure in appreciating the quality of the Gallo translation compared to the original Breton text.
To find out a little more, we invite you to visit the OLEPEI publisher's website, and of course you will find our little commentary in the "j'en som en eveilh" section of the Carrouje.
